A few practical details can make your stay in Samsun easier. The information below will help you prepare for the Summit and your visit to Türkiye.

Currency & Payments

The official currency of Türkiye is the Turkish Lira (TRY / ₺).

Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants, shops and many other businesses. ATMs are readily available in cities, and currency exchange offices can be found in airports and urban centres.

It is still useful to carry a small amount of Turkish Lira for local transport, smaller purchases and situations where card payment may not be available.


Time Zone

Türkiye uses Turkey Time (TRT), UTC+3 throughout the year. The country does not change its clocks for daylight saving time.

Important for Sunday departures: Sunday, 25 October 2026 is the date on which a number of European countries change from summer to winter time. Türkiye will remain on UTC+3. If you are travelling home or making an international connection that day, please check the local time at your destination carefully.


Weather in Samsun in October

October in Samsun is generally mild, but its Black Sea climate means that rain and changing weather conditions are quite possible.

Long-term October averages are approximately:

  • 17°C average temperature;
  • 21°C average daytime maximum;
  • 14°C average night-time minimum.

Rain is fairly common in October, so we recommend bringing layers, a light jacket and something suitable for wet weather.

A current weather forecast will be much more useful closer to the Summit, so participants should check the forecast shortly before travelling.


Electricity, Plugs & Charging

Türkiye uses 230V / 50Hz electricity. The standard sockets are Type C and Type F, using two round pins.

Travellers from most continental European countries will normally not need a plug adaptor.

Visitors from the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada and countries using other plug types should bring a suitable travel adaptor.

Most modern phone, laptop and camera chargers are designed to operate across a wide voltage range and will usually require only the correct plug adaptor. Please check the voltage information printed on your own charger or device before connecting it.

Travel tip: If you are travelling with several devices, bringing a small multi-port USB charger can be more convenient than carrying several separate adaptors.


Mobile Phones & Internet

Before travelling, check your mobile provider's roaming conditions for Türkiye, particularly the cost of mobile data.

Wi-Fi is commonly available in hotels, restaurants and cafés. Participants who expect to use significant mobile data may also wish to consider a suitable travel eSIM or SIM option before or during their stay.

Language

The official language of Türkiye is Turkish. English is used in many hotels, airports and international settings, although the level of English may vary.

Emergency Services

The national emergency number in Türkiye is 112.

It is the single emergency number for services including ambulance, police, fire, gendarmerie and coast guard. Calls to 112 are free from mobile and fixed-line phones.


Healthcare & Medical Assistance

Samsun has public and private healthcare facilities. In a medical emergency, call 112.

International visitors can also use Türkiye's International Patient Assistance Unit Interpretation and Call Centre, which provides assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The service provides language assistance in English, German, French, Russian, Arabic and Persian and can help foreign visitors communicate when accessing healthcare services.

Participants are strongly encouraged to travel with appropriate health and travel insurance and to bring any personal medication they may need during their stay.
