Local Transport
Samsun has a convenient public transport network operated by SAMULAŞ, including the city’s light rail system and bus services. For Summit participants, the tram is one of the easiest ways to move around the city.
Travelling by Tram
Samsun’s light rail system connects major parts of the city, running between the university area and Tekkeköy through central Samsun.
Tram services operate throughout the day, with frequency varying according to the time of day and the day of the week. Participants are encouraged to check the official SAMULAŞ timetable before travelling.

Samkart and Tram Fares
Public transport in Samsun uses the Samkart electronic travel card. A standard non-personalised Samkart can be purchased from kiosks at tram stations and from other authorised Samkart sales and top-up points.
The current price of a standard Full Samkart is 110 TL. According to the current SAMULAŞ fare schedule, a full-fare tram journey costs:
- 30 TL for journeys covering 1–24 stations;
- 39 TL for journeys covering 1–42 stations.
A Simple Option for Summit Visitors
A practical option for visitors is to purchase a Samkart with enough credit for three standard tram journeys.
200 TL = Samkart + credit for three standard 30 TL tram journeys.
According to local information provided for Summit participants, the card can be purchased easily at tram station kiosks, with payment by cash or credit card.
Additional credit can be added to the card when required.
Bus Services
SAMULAŞ also operates city bus services. Current standard adult fares are 34.50 TL for regular and express buses and 25 TL for ring services.
Transfers between buses and the light rail system made within one hour are generally free. If the second service has a higher fare, only the difference is charged.
